Add Scan With Windows Defender To Windows 8 right click

Windows Defender, launched with Windows Vista, failed to impress me even in the upgraded Windows 7 version. But at the same time, Microsoft Security Essentials did a fair job in protecting a computer against some of the common virus threats and got positive reviews in the market.

Now that both — Microsoft Security Essentials and Windows Defender – are combined in Windows 8. But unfortunately there is no right click “Scan” option for this Windows defender. I have found a trick and just sharing this..

Steps :

open your text editor and type copy paste the below

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTFoldershellWindowsDefender]

"MUIVerb"="Scan with Windows Defender"

"Icon"="%ProgramFiles%\Windows Defender\EppManifest.dll"

@=""

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTFoldershellWindowsDefenderCommand]

@=""C:\Program Files\Windows Defender\MpCmdRun.exe" -scan -scantype 3 -file "%1""

Save this as “Windows Defender RightClick Scan.REG” (without quotes)

Now just double click on the saved file, windows will ask for a confirmation message and say OK to it and you’re done…

DO IT ON YOUR OWN RISK..
